Job Description

Pay: £25,450 - £28,450 full time salary (dependent on experience)

Hours: Fixed Term contract November 2025 – November 2026 potential to extend to permanent contract

Hybrid working: Hybrid working from GL1 office, home working and outreach locations in Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire

Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire Community Rail Partnership (GOCRP) works to strengthen our community’s relationship with train travel and public transport in our region.

​

We do that by engaging with and listening to our community and visitors, to understand their needs, thoughts and opinions on travelling by rail and other sustainable modes of transport. And by working with industry partners, stakeholders and local government to create a local public transport system that is inclusive, positive and sustainable – today, tomorrow and for the future.

 

Role Overview

​

Leading on Youth Engagement and Insight, you'll be connecting young people with rail, sustainable travel, nature and the Cotswolds National Landscape. This role is ideal for a motivated self-starter passionate about climate action, youth empowerment, and accessible transport.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Youth Transport Forum Coordination:

​

   - Coordinate youth transport forums

   - Facilitate discussions on young people's transport needs and perspectives

   - Engage young people in potential transport careers

   - Analyse and present findings to our industry partners

   - Ensure diverse representation and active engagement

​

2.  Creating Opportunities for Rural Access:

 

   - Collaborate with our local partners, youth groups, and our Cotswolds Partners

   - Organise and deliver in-house travel training for underrepresented young people (training provided)

   - Encourage access to the Cotswolds National Landscape by rail and other forms of sustainable transport

   - Promote confidence in public transport use among diverse youth

-  Create informative and engaging resources to promote independent travel

- Engage with rural youth to understand perspectives on public transport and opportunities

3. Engagement and Insight

 

- Co-ordinate and facilitate engaging and relevant focus groups

- Develop surveys in collaboration with participants to identify broader perspectives and trends 

- Undertake grassroots community engagement and outreach

- Evaluation of those insights and presentation of findings as per project requirement

What We're Looking For

​

- A passion for championing sustainable travel and environmental issues

- Strong communication and listening skills, adaptable to different audiences- Confidence to connect with and inspire young people

- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities

- Self-starter with strong teamwork skills

- Interest in community engagement, working with young people, or research and analysis to influence change

- Confidence using public transport and enthusiasm for outdoor activities

- An eye for detail and processes

- Engagement and evaluation skills to support with reports and monitoring methods

 

We would particularly welcome applications from individuals aged under 25 years due to the target audience for this project.
