Our Background

During 2022 our parent company - GO Community Rail Partnership CIC - was commissioned by train operator Great Western Railway to investigate the potential for a new Community Rail Partnership covering the county of Oxfordshire. This built on GWR’s successful experience of working with community rail partnerships on other parts of its network, and in particular with GO Community Rail Partnership’s successful launch of Gloucestershire Community Rail Partnership a few years earlier.

 

GO Community Rail Partnership produced a prospectus document for Oxfordshire CRP in late 2022 presenting a compelling case for bringing the benefits of community rail to Oxfordshire. GWR agreed to come on board as start-up funder, and the ideas in the prospectus also convinced CrossCountry Trains and Chiltern Railways to come on board as funders too.

 

Oxfordshire Community Rail Partnership (OxCRP) was formally launched in summer 2023,  to support local communities and visitors alike to benefit from sustainable transport.
