Job Type: Fixed Term 12 Months, Hybrid

Salary: £22,350-£24,350

Location: Oxfordshire & Gloucestershire 

Go Community Rail Partnership is dedicated to improving access to sustainable travel and empowering young people to shape the future of transport. We're seeking a dynamic and driven individual to join our team and lead exciting initiatives designed to make a real difference in how young people engage with rail, sustainable travel, and the outdoor environment. We would particularly welcome applications from individuals aged under 25 years due to the target audience for this project.

 

Role Overview:

Leading on Youth Engagement and Insight, you'll be connecting young people with rail, sustainable travel, and the Cotswolds National Landscape. This role is ideal for a motivated self-starter passionate about climate action, youth empowerment, and accessible travel.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Youth Transport Forum Coordination:

   - Form and coordinate a quarterly youth transport forum

   - Facilitate discussions on young people's transport needs

   - Engage young people in potential rail careers 

   - Analyze and present findings to influence industry partners

   - Ensure diverse representation and active engagement

 

2. Travel Training and Outdoor Access:

   - Collaborate with our local partners, youth groups, and our Outdoor Learning Officer

   - Organise and deliver travel training for underrepresented young people (training provided)

   - Encourage access to the Cotswolds National Landscape by rail 

   - Promote confidence in public transport use among diverse youth

- Proactively engage and connect with young people using our youth - led resources 

 

3. Carbon Messaging:

   - Conduct peer reviews on carbon messaging using our TrainTripper platform and calculator

- Co-create appealing marketing materials with young rail users' input to communicate carbon savings and inspire sustainable travel behaviours

   - Develop ways to communicate rail's environmental benefits to peers

   - Report findings to integrate fundings into our Marketing and Communications plan

 

What We're Looking For:

 

- A passion for championing sustainable travel and environmental issues

- Strong communication and listening skills, adaptable to different audiences

- Confidence to connect with and inspire young people

- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities

- Self-starter with strong teamwork skills

- Interest in community engagement, youth work, or environmental projects

- Confidence using public transport and enthusiasm for outdoor activities
