Access & Engagement Manager

Job Type: Full-Time, Hybrid

Salary: £30,000-£33,000

Location: Oxfordshire & Gloucestershire

At Go Community Rail Partnership CIC, we're on a mission to make rail and car-free travel accessible to everyone, especially underrepresented communities. Our values centre around inclusivity, innovation, and community-led approaches. We believe in empowering and representing local voices to influence change and build travel confidence.

If you're an outgoing, adaptable, and innovative individual who thrives in a fast-paced, start-up environment, we'd love for you to join our team and help shape the future of our organisation as we make travel and transport more inclusive!

In this role, you will be working with our partners, the community and rail users, particularly those who are often underrepresented. You'll be engaging with local people at their local stations and places, listening and capturing their stories whilst engaging with the broader team and our partners to understand and develop innovative solutions that help make rail travel welcoming and accessible for all.

What You'll Be Doing:

1. Using and developing our engagement tools to proactively engage people at community events, spread the word about our work, build travel confidence, and gather valuable feedback on travel behaviours and needs from people of all backgrounds.

2. Building strong relationships with local partners and communities, especially those who are often underrepresented, to amplify their voices and ensure we capture their travel and transport needs.

3. Utilising our research methods and state-of-the-art technology to analyse community insights, spot trends, and develop our programs.

4. Engaging with our funders and partners with meaningful data, insights, and updates.

5. Supporting a rail user access panel to ensure members can easily contribute and be heard.

6. Coordinating mystery shopper train journeys and gathering insights from the perspective of disabled rail passengers to identify areas for improvement.

7. Collaborating with our team and external partners, such as accessibility groups, local authorities, transport providers, and Community Rail Partnerships (CRPs), to bring your findings to life and drive positive change.

8. Staying up-to-date with the latest accessibility trends and best practices, and sharing your knowledge with our team.

9. Managing budgets and seeking out funding opportunities to support our work.

10. Keeping accurate records and providing regular updates on your progress and achievements.

What We're Looking For:

1. A commitment to community representation and a track record of working with diverse groups, particularly in the youth or accessibility sector.

2. Project management experience, including risk management and budget oversight.

3. Working knowledge of accessibility requirements and relevant legislation, like the Equality Act 2010.

4. Excellent people skills and the ability to build relationships with individuals from all walks of life.

5. A flexible, adaptable approach to work, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment where things can change quickly.

6. Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to shape and develop your role as our organisation grows and evolves.

7. Strong analytical skills and the ability to present your findings in a clear, engaging way.

8. A creative, solution-oriented mindset and an interest in innovation and continuous improvement.

9. Willingness to independently travel to community events and work flexible hours when needed.

10. Proficiency in using IT systems and software, and a genuine excitement about the potential of AI and up-to-date technology.

11. Strong communication skills to engage with CRPs, local authorities, and other partners.

12. Marketing experience is a plus!

Additional Skills and Attributes:

- Positively enjoy delivering events and connecting with people from all backgrounds.

- Critical and dynamic thinker who can respond in the moment while thinking about long-term outcomes.

- Confidently design and deliver events and engaging activities that inspire participative group environments

- Experienced in data collection and evaluation whilst respecting the sensitivities of participants involved.

- Confident to work independently while actively contributing to the team.
